Rich is a partner in the firm’s Domestic Relations team. He focuses his practice on all aspects of complex matrimonial matters and related appeals, including preparing and negotiating prenuptial and marital agreements, litigating divorce, modification, removal, and enforcement/contempt actions, and handling disputes concerning issues related to the physical and legal custody and visitation of children, child support, alimony, imputing income to the under-employed (and un-employed) spouse, and the division of jointly acquired, gifted and inherited assets. He has litigated cases in Probate & Family Courts across eastern Massachusetts, and has been involved in myriad appeals and interlocutory petitions. In 2008, he successfully defeated an appeal seeking to reverse both the imputation of income to a former spouse and the allocation of an inheritance. His client was awarded appellate counsel fees.
Prior to joining Lander & Lander, P.C., Rich was associated with the law firm of Todd & Weld, LLP in Boston, Massachusetts, and has served as a staff attorney for the Justices of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, and as a judicial law clerk to both the Probate & Family Courts and the Superior Courts of the Commonwealth. He is a member of the American Probate & Family Inns of Court, Massachusetts chapter, and is a hearing officer for the Board of Bar Overseers. In addition, he has helped draft legislation to simplify post-judgment proceedings seeking to modify custody and child support, and has been recognized by his peers as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer Rising Star (2005-2007), and as a New England Rising Star (2008-2010).
